The Fruit Company is a cornerstone of the Hood River Valley’s orchard heritage, growing, hand-picking, and hand-packing premium fruit gifts for more than 80 years. Housed in a beautifully preserved 1930s fruit packing house, this destination features a unique gift shop offering orchard-fresh fruit and regional artisan favorites.
Guests are invited to go beyond the gift shop with The Fruit Company Tour, a guided experience that includes a museum tour within the historic packing house, a tractor-pulled tram ride through a working orchard, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes factory tour. Together, these elements bring the story of local fruit growing and generations of Hood River Valley agriculture to life. Visitors hear stories from the early days of Hood River farming, discover fruit varieties grown in the valley, and learn how farming methods and equipment have evolved over time. The tour concludes inside the gift shop with a firsthand look at how fruit gift baskets are made, from bloom to harvest to a beautifully crafted gourmet gift, along with opportunities for seasonal tasting and customizing a small gift to take home. Reservations are recommended and tours are booked through www.TheFruitCompany.Tours
As part of the same locally owned family of experiences, visitors can extend their day with a scenic train ride aboard the Mount Hood Railroad, a Fruit Valley Trolley tour, or a railbike adventure through the valley, connecting orchard to landscape. Book at www.MountHoodRailroad.com
